Cres is the largest Adriatic island besides the island of Krk and it is a real challenge for nature lovers because it is a treasure trove of flora and fauna with an exceptional number of endemic species. On Cres is also one of the last habitats of rare birds - the griffon vulture. The island has no streams of water, in its central part is the large Vransko lake, which supplies water the islands of Cres and Mali Losinj. In the northern part of the island are preserved large complexes of the forest (oak, hornbeam, pine), and in the southern part of the forest they are only partially preserved. East of Vransko lake stretch complexes planted pines.
